Will Berdecia – OTVA Jax Director

Will Berdecia - Jacksonville Volleyball Club

After a baseball injury forced Coach Will to leave college and join the United States Navy, he began to play beach volleyball at the Naval Base in Virginia Beach.  Coach Will played for the All Navy Men’s Volleyball Team from 2005 until 2012.  After being transferred to Mayport Naval Station Jacksonville in 2009, Coach Will began to coach club volleyball and has continued to do so ever since.  When not coaching club, Coach Will continues to hone his coaching skills by coaching high school varsity volleyball.  Recently, Coach Will has come full circle as the coach of the All Navy Men’s Volleyball Team in 2017 and 2018.  For the 2017-2018 Club Season, Coach Will’s U14s team placed 5th at the AAU National Volleyball Championship and 10th in the USA division of the Girls’ Junior National Championship for USA Volleyball.  Never tiring of the game, when not coaching you will find Coach Will (and Coach Gil) at the beach, where they … of course … are playing beach volleyball.

Tyler Walker

Tyler Walker Jacksonville Volleyball Club

Coach Tyler started playing volleyball at the age of 13 for a local middle school in St. Augustine, Florida. With no boys volleyball at the high school level in St. Johns County at the time, Tyler decided to try out for the Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association Boys Program. He then went on to play for that club for three and a half years where he was trained as a setter and Outside Hitter. In this time his team won many titles but if you ask him, he will tell you his greatest memory from club volleyball was seeing his team go from losing every game his freshman year to finishing 3rd in the state & 5th on the East Coast to cap off senior year.

After an injury derailed his colligate career, Tyler decided he was not going to give up on the game he fell in love with; he was going to put his knowledge and passion for the game into a coach’s role.
Coach Tyler started coaching volleyball at the club and high school level immediately after high school graduation in 2018 and has not taken a season off since.

At the Club level, Tyler has coached for Old City Volleyball Club (2017), Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association (2018-2021), and is now currently a part of OTVA Jacksonville.
At the High School level, Tyler has coached for St. Augustine High school (2018-2021) and earned 2 district titles with them. This past season, Tyler coached for Creekside High School where they earned a district title and a regional appearance.

If Tyler is not in the gym coaching, you can most likely catch him in a different gym playing. If he’s not surrounded by volleyball, he loves to surround himself with friends, family, and good coffee!
